Hands On CSR’s solutions
Hands On CSR planned and provided a wholesome and competent solution comprising several organic farming activities for the stakeholders to achieve both the CSR goals of Intel.
1. On 18th December 2018, a one-day social engagement project was designed and executed. Intel associates volunteered for organic farming as a mainspring of sustainable agriculture at a farm in Upparahalli, Hoskote, Bangalore for the following activities:
- Drip irrigation set up for approximately 2 acres of land – 75 Volunteers
- Rose flower plucking – 100 Volunteers.
- De-weeding – 50 Volunteers.
- Prepare a bed for growing vegetables – 50 Volunteers.
- Gourd art training – 50 Volunteering.
- Carrot washing and packaging.
2. On August 29th, 2019, organic farming voluntary activities for Intel associates were held at Mayasandra, Anekal. The volunteers devotedly spent a day performing diverse agricultural activities that included
- Harvesting of coriander/Palak aiming at packing at least 5000 bunch of harvest – 40 volunteers.
- Rose picking – 25 Volunteers.
- De-weeding – 30 Volunteers.
- Prepare a bed for growing vegetables – 30 Volunteers.
- Gourd art training – 25 Volunteering.
3. On August 30th, 2019, a team of volunteers from Intel, as a part of the organic farming initiative, worked with marginal farmers in Mayasandra, Anekal. The following activities were performed with absolute diligence.
- Paathi ring making for a sapota plantation and spreading organic manure – 50 Volunteers.
- Planting rare and minor fruit trees like red Seethephal, Indian cherry, Masala lime, and Masala guava to promote mixed agriculture– 25 Volunteers.
- Preparation of organic pesticide (Guided by Poochimaran, national award winner for biopesticide) and further distribution of it to the farmers to induce best practices of organic farming – 25 Volunteers.
- Promoting local art and value addition. Learning and performing gourd art (Krishikala) – 25 Volunteers.
4. August 30th, 2019, another team of Intel associates volunteered for laborious plantation activities on large cultivation fields in Varthur. The initiative comprised 7 plantation activities demanding immense labour and time.
- Harvesting coriander – the goal was to pack at-least 5000 bunch of harvest – 100 Volunteers.
- Harvest of Beans – 1-acre of beans were harvested and packed as per the farmer’s need – 50 Volunteers.
- Paddy sowing in a 3-acre rainfed or flood irrigated land – 50 Volunteers.
- Prepare a bed for the next crop in about 2 acres of land – 50 volunteers.
- Planting of the next crop in about 2 acres of land – 50 volunteers.
- De-weeding and mulching for nearly 4-acre land – 100 Volunteers.
- Spreading manure on some of the existing crops – 100 volunteers.
5. On September 5th, 2019, a team of 15 volunteers got down to replacing about 50 dead plants with sapota saplings plantation on a farm in Mayasandra, Anekal.
6. On September 13th, 2019, a bunch of Intel associates were introduced to sustainable agriculture activities and techniques at Varthur, Bengaluru rural. The associates volunteered to practice some of the interesting activities to support the marginal farmers.
- Harvest of Beans – beans planted in 1acre of land was harvested and packed as per the farmers’ needs.
- Prepared a bed for the next crop in about 2 acres of land.
- Planting of the next crop in about 2 acres of land.
- De-weeding and mulching.
- Spreading manure on the existing crops.
- Performed gourd art to promote local art for value addition.
7. On September 19th, 2019, at Mayasandra, Anekal, volunteers performed
- Manuring in a land counting around 2 acres.
- Rose harvesting.
- De-weeding.
- Gourd art to promote local art for value addition.
