Pandemic – Covid 19

The Covid-19 pandemic has completely changed our lives. During the pandemic, governments took several precautionary measures to stop the spread of the infection of the novel coronavirus. Colleges, universities, schools, and offices were closed with no certainty. Nobody knew when they would be open.

There are several guidelines and rules issued by the government. Most of the people worked online.

Professions like content writing, web development, data entry management, social media management, etc., were able to work online. But the people who had businesses like restaurants, small eateries, transport, manufacturing, retail, etc., lost employment and faced struggle to run their houses. Unemployment in India was at a 45-year high during the pandemic. The industrial output in the country’s 8main sectors fell tremendously.. In short, the Indian economy was crippled.

The people who were struck by the virus were dying. There was panic and scare everywhere. There was no place in the hospitals. The hospital supplies like medicines, machinery, oxygen cylinders, etc., were over.

Under such scenarios, some corporate teams and community helpers came forward to help.

Objectives

The companies like CGI worked with Hands On CSR to fulfill their objective of helping the people infected with coronavirus by providing them with necessary supplies. They worked as per their objective of:


  • Establishing covid Referral Hospital.
  • Arrangement of personal protection equipment for both the frontline workers as well as the health workers.
  • Make a list of necessary things needed at the hospital and distribute the same to help the patients and doctors.
  • Mobilise funds to arrange the required supplies.

Hands On CSR’s solutions

1. The medical team needed proper protective equipment to stay safe and constantly help the patients. The project aimed to keep them safe from the virus and empower them to work for infected patients. The results achieved were:

  • The funds were received so that critical medical supplies such as face masks, PPE kits, etc., could be purchased and distributed to the frontline health workers.
  • Massive distribution of PPE kits to the doctors, nurses, and support staff was carried our successfully.
  • The PPE kits that were given to the frontline health workers made them feel safe and confident.
  • With the establishment of the referral Hospital, the infected patients were able to receive the best care and treatment.
  • The Referral Hospital at Ramnagara saved many lives which were struck by COVID-19
  • By getting the necessary medical equipment, the emergency needs of patients infected with at Ramanagar district place were met. They were able to receive the treatment.
2. On August 29th, 2019, another volunteering activity was carried out by the Intel associates at Mayasandra, Anekal. The objective of Saranya’s team was to introduce corporate volunteers to sustainable agriculture. The volunteers were engaged in plantation activities. Here are the details of the activities done:

  • Firstly, the harvesting of coriander and spinach was done. The company associates aimed to pack at least 5000 bunches of harvest. There were a total of 40 volunteers who participated in this activity and did wonders.
  • Another activity included picking the rose flowers. The company associates thought this was an interesting thing to do. As many as 25 Volunteers participated in the fun.
  • Another significant job was to get indulged in the De-weeding. More than 30 volunteers were assigned for the role. They completed the job with full vigor and zeal.
  • One of the important jobs was also to prepare the bed for growing vegetables. In this cause, around 30 volunteers participated and finished the task.
  • Lastly, in the interesting activity of Gourd art training, more than 25 volunteers participated and learned crucial things.

3. On September 13th, 2019, one volunteering activity was carried out by the Intel associates at Varthur, Bengaluru rural. The objective of Indu’s team was to make the corporate volunteers of Intel experience the benefits of sustainable agriculture. Here are the details of the activities done:

  • Harvesting of beans was done in more than one land. Beans were harvested and packed depending on the farmer’s needs.
  • The bed was prepared for the next crop in the land area of about 2 acres.
  • Planting of the next crop was also done in the massive area of 2 acres.
  • De-weeding and mulching were other critical jobs taken up by the Intel associates.
  • The Intel executives also spread manure on some of the existing crops.
  • The company people learned Gourd art, which aims to promote local art for value addition.

Results Achieved

The efforts of Intel executives paid off because marvelous results were achieved. The volunteers’ efforts were appreciated and they went back home with an enriching experience.

  • The volunteers expressed that experiencing a different culture made them more educated.
  • The volunteers learned the challenges and solutions for organic farming.
  • The program reduced the concerns and challenges of the farmers and made them aware of the new and improved techniques.
  • The farmers got experience with the all-new sustainable agricultural methods.
  • Intel employees learned how to work in a team and achieve a common objective.
  • Due to the interactive skills and socializing, they were able to improve their camaraderie amongst them.
  • The program between the Hands On CSR team and the corporate firm benefitted with positive outcomes and completed their goal.
